GARM is written in pure PHP and needs no shell access. It works even on the most limited shared hosting, where traditional scanners cannot be installed at all.
Integrity verified against the official source
Files are compared against the official WP.org checksums: either they match the original or they do not. It is a deterministic check, and it is why false positives stay close to zero.
